The Hall of Honor at Atatürk’s Mausoleum

The esteemed leader Atatürk is peacefully resting beneath the most significant and magnificent area within the mausoleum, which is known as the Hall of Honor. This impressive hall, soaring to a height of twenty meters, features ceilings and side walls that are elegantly adorned with exquisite marble sourced from the Bilecik region. In addition to this, various other types of marble, each with its unique character and beauty, have been utilized for the ceilings and walls throughout the mausoleum, all coming from different parts of the country.

The grand sarcophagus, weighing an astonishing forty tons, was carefully transported from the Osmaniye region of Adana, adding to the hall’s grandeur. This Hall of Honor serves as a solemn space where visitors, predominantly from the Turkish nation but also including esteemed foreign statesmen and their delegations, come to pay their heartfelt respects to Atatürk, honoring his legacy and contributions to the nation.
