Winter 2009 - 2010
Hello/ Merhaba from Marmaris and welcome to the official website of
Marmaris!
Since over five years the website serves as an official Marmaris website, as on March 13, 2003
www.mymarmaris.com was voted as the official website of Marmaris,
affiliated with MARTAV, Marmaris culture and tourism Association, whose
goal has been to promote Marmaris on the international travel market.
What does "official website" mean? Apart from up-to-date
information Mymarmaris.com provides advertisement space to
all local and international establishments, accommodations and agencies
at nominal fees. This website encourages online presence of Marmaris
businesses. This website also aims to serve a one-for-all online portals for
you to check your holiday arrangements and establish direct contact.
Mymarmaris.com website has been approved by Marmaris municipality.
Marmaris is enjoying some late season
sunshine and unseasonably warm weather. White sails glide tantalisingly
past distant horizons. Small open fishing boats putter across to
Paradise island in the still of the early morning, carving a chuckling
wake on the open sea. Fishermen are happy with their catch as the fish
is now back in Marmaris bay, proved also by the presence of seagulls on
the sea surface and in the skies.
There are more building sites than ever in
Marmaris, including the new space for improvement works on Uzunyali
beach. Within a few days the places from Captain's Restaurant all the
way up to Baran cafe have become history. Marmaris municipality ordered
their demolition in order to extend the beach area. All work is assumed
to be completed this winter in time for the new season. For the time
being the beach walks are over for locals on this part of the beach as
the building works are quite intense at the moment. The pictures on
http://www.marmarisinfo.com
are probably one of the last shots of these popular places.

When it comes to shopping and present hunting, Turkey is one great wonderful bazaar. Enjoy the huge variety of shops, bazaars, open air markets and specialists shops in Marmaris! Best buys this season are textile products, especially T-shirts; jeans; leather and suede; cassettes; jewellery; lacy or embroidered bed linen and table cloths; ceramic plates and bowls as well as copper vessels. Local souvenirs include brass and copper goods, crystal ornaments, ceramic plates, embroidered towels. Or why not take home a true taste of Turkey - Turkish delight, tea (fruit flavoured apple and orange tea), or herbs and spices. Lokum, Turkish delight, comes in nearly 90 varieties, sold in boxes or by kg where you have the choice to pick and mix lokum. A traditional lokum shop will have a kaleidoscopic choice - from traditional pink cubes or flavoured varieties like mint, lemon or pistachio. In order to bring lokum fresh home leave your purchase as late as possible.
Herbs and spices are very cheap compared to the UK and because most varieties used in Turkish cooking, an extensive range can be bought fresh at the bazaar and local markets. Porcelain Turkish coffee cups painted with Turkish motifs call out to coffee lovers.
We encourage everyone to pass on their holiday experiences and information to us which will be added on our website!
